I think that japan people don't hate Apple, but they are in the tech race with the US so, they treat it as a competitor, but who loves the rivals? I think noone.

Image 70: Preface by Gil Amelio

It's not the yet-to-come "Think Different" mantra and it lacks Jobsian flair, but there's still Apple in these words:

Dear Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh customer,

For twenty years, Apple design engineers have been building bridges between what people dream about and the amazing new teechnologies that can take them beyond those dreams.

It's our magnificent obsession.

It's about working and playing and listening and learning and creating and communicating – sometimes all at the same time.

It's about the delight of doing things faster and better and easier.

It's about the joy of holding and handling and using things that are well made.

It's about turning your back on conventional wisdom and finding new ways.

Now, it's about celebrating the last twenty years, and heralding the next twenty.

It's about the most wonderful thing we've ever built.

It's the Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh.

Sincerely,

Dr. Gil Amelio
CEO Apple Computer, Inc.
