I've never seen a clunky connector like this on a computer. Mate the fat connector from the bass unit with that from the computer unit, and turn a metal ring to lock them in place. It's a wee clumsy, with the two parts not "clicking" easily; on one occasion I bent one of the many pins and had to straighten it with pliers.
It works, but it's not elegant! The umbilical cord is stiff and heavy, too; it doesn't lie gracefully.
