Now we're talking! As one of those oddballs who's always liked the .Mac online service, I'm excited to see the next iteration: MobileMe, announced at the WWDC event on June 9.

Why isn't .Mac offering unlimited online backup?

People cheered when Apple upped the storage on its .Mac service from 1 GB to 10 GB, and rightly so. The company wants us to not only store important stuff on .Mac, but share our photos and movies as well – and those functions dig into storage like Elvis into fried chicken.

A spacious 10 GB will let you store lots of data, but there's one big, glaring need it won't take care of: backing up your computer itself. Read more »

One of the greatest myths about Macs today is that they cost way more than their PC equivalents, when a direct spec-to-spec comparison between the two often proves that is not the case. But the myth persists because that was exactly the situation in the 1990s when Apple churned out a succession of indifferent computers that costs hundreds, if not thousands, more than their competitors.
