iPhone basics announced for Japan

iPhone 3G to launch worldwide on July 11

The iPhone 3G goes global from the day of its birth on July 11, with a roll-out planned for about 22 lands. One of its most closely-watched markets will be Japan, where existing mobile carriers offer a wide range of quickly-changing cell phone models, coupled with firmly entrenched online services. Will the iPhone 3G thrive there or not? Stay glued to this site from July 11.

In the meantime, here's one of the most thorough overviews I've seen yet of what Apple and partner Softbank Mobile have planned for the iPhone 3G in Japan. What do you think of the iPhone's chances in Japan?

...I thought I would enjoy [my Dell] more with Vista... Nothing worked - none of printers, no USB peripherals, and Vista was so slooooooow! 2 weeks after this Fiasco I sold the laptop and [bought] a MacBook Pro. Since then I've changed all my employee computers to Macs. My more robust systems are Mac Pros, and for personal use I even got a mac mini for my living room. Microsoft had me - but lost me do to high prices on poorly written software. I disagree when people say PCs are cheap. If you want power you actually get more with Mac then with a PC. - Macworld comment
